Shared-core machine types
Google makes shared-core machine types available for applications that have very low resource requirements. These machines are currently available in two flavors—f1-micro and g1-small.The f1-micro machine type offers 0.2 vCPU and 0.6 GB of RAM, and carries a cost of less than 20% of the smallest n1-standard machine. g1-small offers 0.5 vCPU and 1.7 GB of RAM, with a running cost of roughly half that of an n1-standard-1 VM.
The f1-micro and g1-small machines are capable of temporarily utilizing up to 1 full vCPU, a process known as bursting. This makes it possible for these machines to carry out short-lived tasks with the same vCPU capability of an n1-standard-1 machine. Bursting is enabled automatically and takes ...
