Exporting Stackdriver logs
Stackdriver Logging does not retain logs forever. All logs are subject to a standard log retention period, after which they are deleted from Stackdriver. The retention period varies based on the type of log, with admin activity audit logs being retained for 400 days, and all other logs being retained for 30 days.
In order to retain logs for longer periods of time, Stackdriver Logging supports exporting logs to other systems via sinks. Supported sink services include Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and Cloud Pub/Sub. In addition to long-term retention, these sinks make it possible to perform advanced analytics on these logs, such as time-series analysis with tools such as Dataflow, Bigtable and BigQuery.
