NoSQL technologies
NoSQL is a broad category of persistence technologies, generally referring to any storage solution that doesn't fit the traditional RDBMS model of normalized relational data. This definition technically includes purely unstructured object stores such as Cloud Storage, though the term NoSQL is generally reserved for solutions that contain some concept of structured data. In general, NoSQL solutions sacrifice some level of the functionality found in relational databases in order to overcome the limitations that functionality introduces. In many cases, this means better scalability and suitability for highly distributed environments.
