August 20Define Success
Do not be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better. What if they are a little coarse and you may get your coat soiled or torn? What if you do fail, and get fairly rolled in the dirt once or twice? Up again, you shall never be so afraid of a tumble.
Ralph Waldo Emerson—Journals of Ralph Waldo Emerson (1909)
What if you do fail? What's your backup plan?
So much chatter about failure, how it's good for you, how you should expect it, welcome it, learn from it. Nope, failure sucks.
Here's another question.
What if you succeed, wildly, what then?
What's your plan for when things go better than you could have ever imagined?
No one lets themselves consider that notion, but you should.
