February 14Artful Growth

What was any art but an effort to make a sheath, a mould in which to imprison for a moment the shining, elusive element which is life itself,—life hurrying past us and running away, too strong to stop, too sweet to lose?

Willa Cather—Song of the Lark (1915)

Many art forms are just that—static frames holding the unending flow of life momentarily in remission.

Want to test this? Find an image of Frida Kahlo's Self-Portrait as a Tehuana. She painted this in 1940 after she and her artist husband Diego Rivera divorced. It is a metaphor created to house a sentiment that was quite literal.

The entrepreneur's art, however, is a living work in a constant state of evolution—or not. You see, if not, if static or, worse, stagnant, it is dying. There is no momentary state of remission—living or dying is all there is.

The entrepreneur's form of art is change.

Get used to it, relish it, embrace it, be thankful for it. This is growth. Make it happen.
