October 20Decide Growth
Very early, I knew that the only object in life was to grow.
Margaret Fuller—Memoirs of Margaret Fuller Ossoli (1852)
Do you think it's humanly possible to stay the same? Our brains and our bodies don't think so. In some capacity they are becoming less at this very moment.
That's the hand we are dealt.
But mental and spiritual growth, improvement, learning, changing, doing, and being something entirely new stops only when we choose to stop.
Sure, you can take up mountain biking or add a third language if that's your thing, but the opportunity to grow happens in every moment. Choosing to react (or not react) in a certain way that hasn't served you in the past is growth.
Are you excited about the possibility of every new day?
If not, then maybe you've let yourself stop.
Today, look for something new, teach someone, choose a way to grow, and let it help you define something bigger, more meaningful for tomorrow.
