Skills are specialties learned by characters while preparing for entry
into a class or becoming more procient in it. One way to distin-
guish one character class from another is to assign certain skills to a
class that others can’t perform. For example, the rogue class is oen
given the ability to pick pockets and crack locks that other charac-
ters can’t. e skills can also be related to weaponry so that a certain
class gains a positive modier when using one weapon type—for ex-
ample, a ranger getting a +2 modier whenever she uses a bow of any
