何時使用
介面上有一 個文字欄位 ，但是並非 所有的使用 者都很清楚 要在欄位中 輸入哪些資
料。同時你又不希望欄位的標籤太長。
為何使用
解釋了自身用途的文字欄位，可免除使用者猜測的必要。輸入線索提供了標籤或許
無法提供的背景說明。如果我們在設計時能把線索文字和主要標籤分隔開，知道該
怎麼做的使用者，就可以或多或少地忽略此暗示，並將注意焦點放在標籤和控制元
件上。
原理作法
寫一個簡短的範例或解釋用的句子，將它放在文字欄位的下方或旁邊。線索文字或
可設計成隨時都看得到，也可以在文字欄位成為輸入焦點後再出現。
線索文字請使用小而不顯眼的字體，但不能造成閱讀困難；可考慮使用比標籤小兩
個點數的字體。（如果只小一個點數，看起來比較像是意外標錯字型大小，而不是
刻意的。）另外，線索文字請盡量簡短。如
