It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

這是什麼
在一個層級很深的導覽結構中，於其中的每個頁面呈現一份所有主要頁面的列表，
最高可到列出主頁面為止。
何時使用
你的應用程式或網站是個具有兩層以上的階層結構時。使用者會從其他地方，透過
直接導覽元素、瀏覽、過濾、網站內的搜尋或深層連結進來。只有全域導覽，將無
法對使用者適當表達「你在這裡」的路標，因為階層太深太廣了。
或者，你的網站或程式具有一組瀏覽與過濾工具，以供大量資料集使用，例如線上產
品網站。產品會分類成階層架構，但分類方式不見得符合使用者尋找產品時的方式。
為何使用
麵包屑記號顯示出到達目前頁面階層之前的每一層，從應用程式的最頂端一路下來。
就某種意義來說，這呈現出網站或程式整體地圖中某一條路徑的「直線切片」。
所以，就像是序列地圖（Sequence Map）一樣，麵包屑記號可以幫助使用者找出
自己的位置。尤其是在使用者唐突地跳進階層樹的深處時特別有用，像在使用者透
過搜尋結果或 faceted browsing tool 而進來時。和序列地圖不一樣的是，麵包屑記
號不會告訴使用者接下來要怎麼走。麵包屑記號只關心現在。
