Carbon disulfide (CS₂) is an electron-attaching molecule that has 38 electrons. The electronic polarizability is 9.7 × 10⁻⁴⁰ F m² and the ionization potential is 10.068 eV. The molecule has three modes of vibrational excitation (Shimanouchi, 1972) as shown in Table 28.1.
