Uranium hexafluoride (UF6) is a large inorganic molecule with 146 electrons. It has an electronic polarizability of 13.91 × 10−40 F m2, is nonpolar, and has an ionization potential of 14.00 eV. The dissociation energy (UF5–F) is 3.0 eV (Compton, 1977). There are six vibrational modes as shown in Table 92.1.
