Methanethiol (CH3SH), synonym methyl mercaptan is a gaseous product of degradation of organic matter and is found in earth’s atmosphere and interstellar space (Szmytkowski, 1995). It has 26 electrons, derived electronic polarizability of 5.6–6.0 × 10−40 F m2, and dipole moment of 1.52 D. The molecule is electron attaching due to the dissociative attachment occurring at 0.68 and 1.0 eV, resulting in the formation of CH3S−, CH2S,− and S− negative ions.
