Butene (C₄H₈) is a hydrocarbon belonging to the class of alkenes (C_nH_2n) and there are three isomers: 1-butene (also called α-butylene), 2-butene (also called β-butylene), and isobutene (also called isobutylene) (Sharp, 2003). There are six gases having the same chemical formula each with 32 electrons. The electronic polarizability (α_e), dipole moment (D), and ionization energy (ε_i) are shown Table 120.1.
