Nitrogen trifluoride (NF3) is a polar, electron-attaching gas that has 34 electrons. The electronic polarizability is 4.05 × 10−40 F m2, dipole moment 0.235 D (see Szmytkowski et al., 2004), and ionization potential 13.00 eV (see Szmytkowski et al., 2004). The molecule has four modes of vibration as shown in Table 43.1 (Shimanouchi, 1972).
