Dibromoethane (C2H4Br2) is an electron-attaching gas that has 76 electrons. There are two isomers: 1,1-dibromoethane (synonym ethylidene dibromide) and 1,2-dibromoethane (synonym ethylene dibromide). Selected properties are shown in Table 97.1.
The electron affinity of 1,1-C2H4Br2 molecule is >–0.07 eV (see Christophorou, 1996) and the ion species observed are Br- and. Table 97.2 and Figure 97.1 show the attachment rate constants for the isomers of C2H4Br2.
