Chloropropane is a polar, electron-attaching gas that has 42 electrons. There are two isomers, 1-chloropropane (synonym propyl chloride) and 2-chloropropane (synonym isopropyl chloride). Selected properties are shown in Table 115.1.
Total ionization cross sections have been measured by Hudson et al. for both isomers as shown in Table 115.2 and Figure 115.1. No evidence of the effects of isomerism on the cross section is observed.
