1,4-Difluorobenzene is a substituted benzene with two atoms of hydrogen replaced by fluorine atoms in the 1,4 position (see Figure 123.1 of the 1,3-difluorobenzene chapter). The molecule is alternatively designated as p(ara)-difluorobenzene (Lide, 2005–2006). It is a polar molecule with polarizability of 10.90 × 10−40 m2 and ionization potential of 9.14 eV.
