Dibromotetrafluoroethane (C2Br2F4), industrial name refrigerant 114B2, is an electron-attaching gas that has 118 electrons. Theoretically calculated electronic polarizability is 6.95 × 10−40 F m2 (Barszczewska et al., 2004). The ionization potential is 11.1 eV.
Both Br- and ions are observed with relative abundance of 80% and 20% at room temperature, respectively (Smith et al., 1990). Table 98.1 and Figure 98.1 show the attachment rate coefficients for C2Br2F4.
