linking
)的反向操作是移除連結(
unlinking
),也就是從檔案系統移除其路
徑名稱。
unlink()
系統呼叫可用於完成此項工作:

int unlink (const char *pathname);
執行成功時,
unlink()
會從檔案系統中刪除
pathname
,並且會傳回
0
。如果此名稱是相
對應檔案的最後一個參照,則該檔案會從檔案系統中被刪除。然而,如果有一個行程已
經開啟該檔案,則核心不會從檔案系統中刪除該檔案,除非行程將該檔案關閉。一旦沒
有任何行程開啟該檔案,該檔案就會被刪除。
如果
pathname
參用到一個符號連結,則是連結本身(而不是目標)被破壞。
如果
pathname
參用到另一個類型的特殊檔案,例如一個裝置、
FIFO
或
socket
,則特殊
檔案會從檔案系統中被移除,但是已經開啟該檔案的行程可以繼續使用它。
發生錯誤時,
unlink()
會傳回
-1
而且會把
errno
設定為下面其中一個錯誤碼:
EACCESS
進行調用的行程對

的父目錄不具寫入的權限,或者進行調用的行程對
