However, the more you participate with employees—discussing the job that needs to be done and the best way to do it—the more employees take ownership of the job, eventually seeing the job as belonging to them personally. When this “transfer of ownership” takes place, employees are much more motivated and determined to do the job well and on time, because the job is now a natural extension of themselves. It belongs to them. It is their property. It is a reflection of their personal abilities whether the job is done well.
