1. Ask your people, individually, to determine the one skill that they would like to acquire or improve through training and development to make a more valuable contribution. Then, provide the time and money necessary for each employee to develop that skill.
2. Select one skill for yourself that can help you to do your job even better. Set up a personal training schedule of reading, listening to audio programs, attending seminars and workshops, and practicing your new skill in the workplace. Your example will serve as motivation and an inspiration to other people to upgrade their skills as well.
