Asking questions is the key to leadership and to good communications. When you ask questions, you get a chance to listen to the answers. And listening builds trust. Trust between two people is the foundation of peak performance.
Even more important, listening builds character. The more you listen to other people and genuinely try to understand and empathize with them, the more you develop yourself. It requires tremendous discipline, after all, to listen attentively without interrupting. Practice listening patiently, unhurriedly, and in a relaxed way. Listen as if you have all the time in the world. Remember that some people need more time to get to the point than others.
