I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
ACTION EXERCISES
1. Each day, in your first communication with staff members, ask them about themselves, their personal lives, and their families. Listen attentively to the answers, nodding, smiling, and expressing both interest and sympathy. Only then should you begin talking about work.
2. Practice the Golden Rule of Management on every occasion. When you talk to a staff member, imagine that he or she will be your boss in a short time, and only you know about it.
