Quantity vs. Quality
I traveled around the country for IBM giving the seminar, and the average number of answers that a table would come up with in the course of this brainstorming exercise was seventy to eighty ideas. But in this particular seminar, the table consisting only of secretaries came up with more than 200 ideas on how to dispose of this oversupply of bricks. They came up with so many ideas in twenty minutes that they had to have three of the seven women sitting at the table writing down the answers. They turned out to be far more creative than tables full of senior managers or other executives.
