Be aware of the requirements of equal employment opportunity legislation on the employment relationship.
EEO legislation requires employers to provide equal opportunities and a safe workplace that is free from harassment. Federal EEO legislation established protected classes for race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, and disability. Employers must ensure that all employees are aware that the business does not tolerate harassment on the basis of any protected category, and they must create written policies that clearly state the employer's position and consequences that will occur if employees violate the policy.
