At a project team-building meeting, the four stages can be used as a model to discuss and diagnose the team’s effectiveness. For example, members can discuss their current day-to-day behavior (observable and normal constructive and dysfunctional behavior) to see where they fit in the model at the moment, diagnose what is helping and hindering their ability to achieve results, and agree on actions needed to move to the next stage. Groups may find they break down and cannot get past the storming stage in the Tuckman model.
