Toward Artful Making
As “Taylorism” became more refined, and more widely used
in American and European industry, it created an increasingly
sharp (and invidious) distinction between knowing and doing,
thinking and making, and between classes of workers, white-
and blue-collar. The new class, the white collars, formed the
backbone of what came to be called “scientific management.”
