Workspace
Artful collaboration requires exposure to risks. There’s
a risk that superiors, or customers, or others whose opinions
matter might disagree with choices we make or opinions we
express. Bad things can happen if the project fails to accom-
plish its “goals.” In Chapter 6 we discussed how artful makers
release themselves past tensions and inhibitions by using their
ability to focus, to direct attention away from the source of
inhibitions. Artful managers must also do their part; they must
create conditions in which makers can work at risk.
