I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Share permissions
Applying a share permission means setting the permissions for a user to access a folder across the network from a remote device. Share permissions only apply across a network, and can only be applied to folders. If a user is sat at the device, the permissions do not apply. To apply local restrictions, we have to apply NTFS permissions.
Creating a local share is relatively straightforward. In the following process, we will walk through the steps of sharing a folder:
- Create a folder called Top on your desktop.
- Right-click on it and choose Properties.
- Choose Sharing.
- Click on Advanced Sharing..., as shown in the following screenshot:
