Domain

The domain element relates to the domain that the organization has registered with a domain name registrar. There is a caveat, though: if the domain is restricted to internal use, we don't need to register the domain name. For example, when I'm studying, I often create my own virtual network, which is inaccessible from outside. I set up and run my own domain controller and create a domain with amazingly creative names, such as gordon.local.

It is feasible to create subdomains and include them in the FQDN. A lot of global organizations do this to differentiate between regions.
