This service allows managing devices through the use of protocols such as the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), which runs over port 161. SNMP requires an SNMP agent on the host, which communicates back to an SNMP server. These communications include attributes and their values, such as free disk space, CPU usage, and so on. However, this is not a one-way process and the server can also communicate settings back to the device for remote configuration.
