I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Disabling SSID broadcast
We discussed the purpose of the SSID in the Implementing wireless topologies section previously. There is a train of thought that disabling the SSID being broadcast is a great method for hiding your network, and on the surface, this seems to make sense. If they don't know it's there, they cannot attack it, right?
Remember, we discussed that when connecting to a wireless network for the first time, it is simply a case of looking down the list provided to you by the device and selecting the appropriate one. If we disabled the SSID broadcast, the network would not be on the list and we would have to go through some additional steps to connect to it.
