Teredo tunneling is very similar to 6to4 but allows IPv6 communication between devices sitting on a network that use NAT. To do this, the endpoint encapsulates the IPv6 packet in an IPv4 UDP packet. This system works because NAT devices can usually process these appropriately and forward the traffic to the specified endpoint device. Because of this, the endpoint does not require its own dedicated public IPv4 address.
