Path vector protocol

The final routing protocol is path vector. In this protocol, the router knows the IP address of the next router and the actual path that the data will be sent along. This differs from the previous protocol types in that path vector protocols do not know the complete path, just the next router on the path.

The only routing protocol of note that falls under this category is the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).

Now, let's learn about the Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP) and Exterior Gateway Protocol (EGP) and compare them.
