So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

つまり、メールソフトとメールサーバーの間でのメール送信は SMTP over
SSL/TLSで、メールサーバーとメールサーバーの間のメール転送は
STARTTLS で、メールサーバーからのメール受信は POP over SSL/TLS や
IMAP over SSL/TLS が使われます。
なお、Thunderbird 78 からは TLS 1.0 や TLS 1.1 でのやり取りはできな
くなりました。このため、TLS 1.2 以上に対応していないメールサーバーで
はメールを送信できません。メールサーバーの管理者としては、Postfix の設
定ファイルで、次のように TLS 1.0（TLSv1）や TLS 1.1（TLSv1.1）のよ
うな通信は除外するように設定します。
■ Web メールにおける暗号化
Gmail などの Web メールを使う場合、一般的なメールソフトの代わりに
/etc/postfix/main.cf
smtpd_tls_ciphers = high
smtpd_tls_mandatory_ciphers = high
smtpd_tls_mandatory_protocols = !SSLv2,!SSLv3,!TLSv1,!TLSv1.1
