最近では、Google や Cloudflare などが提供しているパブリック DNS サー
バーをフルサービスリゾルバーとして使う人も増えてきました。これらはプロ
バイダの DNS サーバーよりも高性能なため、通信環境が改善する場合があり
ます。また、企業など自社で DNS サーバーを構築している場合は、DNS サー
バーを手動で指定している場合もあります。
ネットワークの設定画面では複数の DNS サーバーを指定できます。これは、
最初のフルサービスリゾルバーから応答がなかった場合、次のフルサービスリ
ゾルバーに問い合わせられるようにしています。これにより、フルサービスリ
ゾルバーに障害が発生していても、名前解決ができないトラブルのリスクを抑
えられます【図 1-26】。
パソコンで解説しましたが、サーバーでも DNS のしくみは同じです。
■ コンピュータで動くサービスを識別するポート番号
宛先のコンピュータは IP アドレスで識別できましたが、そのコンピュータ
では複数の種類のサーバーが動作しているかもしれません。メールサーバーだ
けでなく、Web サーバーやデータベースサーバー、ファイルサーバーなどさ
まざまなサーバーが 1 つのコンピュータで動作している可能性があるのです。
