「example.com」の他、適当なドメインでもメールサーバーは構築できること
がわかります（実際に運用するときには適切なドメインを取得し、後述する
DNS の設定などを実施してください）。
■ 役割に応じた SMTP サーバーを設定する
Telnet で SMTP サーバーに直接接続すればメールを送信できるようになり
ましたが、外部から通常のメールソフトでメールを送信できるようにしたいも
のです。つまり、メールを送信する側のメールサーバーを構築することを考え
ます【図 3-3】。
ここで、一般的なメールソフトからメールを送信できるようにするには、第
2 章で解説したような SMTP AUTH の設定を追加します。つまり、SMTP
AUTH で認証を通過したユーザーだけがこのサーバーからメールを送信でき
るように制限します。
この認証方法として、第 2 章でも登場した SASL を使います。SASL のラ
イブラリとして、「Cyrus-SASL」や「Dovecot-SASL」がよく使われます。
本書では、次の 3-3 節で Dovecot を導入するため、「Dovecot-SASL」を使
用します。
SMTP AUTH のサブミッションポートを Postfix で待ち受けて、Postfix か
ら Dovecot の認証情報を利用する方法もありますが、Dovecot にサブミッ
