データベースを作成・削除する
データベース管理システム上では複数のデータベースを管理することが
できます（図 3-6）。例えば、ある店舗の商品情報を管理するデータベー
スを作成し、それとは別にまったく違う用途であるスケジュール管理アプ
リで用いるデータベースを作成するといったことができます。これらのデ
ータベースは
ようになっています。
また、アプリ開発において本番環境用のデータベースとは別に、

でも対応することができます。
新しいデータベースを作成するときは、コマンドでデータベース名を指
定して作成します。データベース名は後から見て何に使われているデータ
ベースなのか区別しやすい名前にしておくとよいでしょう。
図3-7はコマンドを使って「データベースD」という名前のデータベース
を作成している例です。MySQLでは、データベースの作成には「CREATE
DATABASE」文を用います。
データベースが必要なくなったときは、削除することができます。この
ときデータベースの中に保存されている内容は消えてしまうので注意しま
しょう。
図3-8はコマンドを使って「データベース D」という名前のデータベース
を削除している例です。MySQLでは、データベースの削除には「DROP
DATABASE」
