OSやソフトウェアを更新せずに古いバージョンのままにしておくと、
最新の機能が使えなかったり、他のソフトウェアとの連携が取れなくなっ
たり、十分なサポートが受けられずにトラブルが起きた際の対処がしにく
くなります。また、機器が古く現状のシステム要件に耐えきれなくなった
場合はデータベースを導入しているサーバ自体を新しいものに買い換える
必要が出てくるかもしれません。
システムを安全に、そして快適に利用するために日々適切なバージョン
になっているか気を配っておく必要があります（図6-16）。
図6-17 はバージョンを上げる際のおおまかな手順の例です。バージョ
ンアップ後に問題が発生してもとに戻す必要が出てきた場合に備えて、1
や2 ではもとの環境情報やデータをあらかじめ記録しています。
この他にも必要に応じてあらかじめ同じ環境を用意して、バージョンア
ップの手順を確認しておいたり、バージョンアップ後も正常に動作するか
確認しておいたりすることで、確実に作業が進められるでしょう。
