データベースを導入すべきか

メリットがある一方、データベースには以下のようなデメリット
もあるため、精査したうえで導入を検討する必要があります（図5-4）。
まず、データベースの設計や導入には時間と費用がかかります。データ
ベースを導入するまでには要件を定義し、設計・開発をして、運用を開始
するための調整が必要になってきます。作業の外注や商用の製品を使うと
それらの工数を最小限に抑えられますが、その分費用がかかってきます。
また、専門知識や、SQLによる操作方法を覚える必要があります。

そして、データベースの導入後にエラーが出た場合は原因を把握・対処し、
バックアップやセキュリティ対策を講じる必要が出てくることもあります。
データベースの導入にあたり、導入の目的も検討内容の1 つです。デー
タベースは魔法の道具ではなく、あくまで情報を蓄えたり整理したりする
ためのツールなので、これを生かせるかどうかは利用者にゆだねられま
す。本当に
必要があるでしょう。
例えば業務の効率化が目的であれば、それがデータベースによって解決
できるかは使い方によって変わってきます。そもそもデータベースを自前
で導入するよりも他にお手軽なソフトや製品があるかもしれません ...
