245 – Behaviors or Attitudes?
Purpose/Objectives: When evaluating an employee, it is important for the
performance appraisal to be based on objective behav-
iors, not subjective attitudes. Objectivity in an evalua-
tion gives the employee specific information for improv-
ing performance. Subjective conclusions are usually
based on the supervisor’s attitudes, emotions, or feel-
ings. This two-part exercise teaches participants to rec-
ognize the difference between behaviors and attitudes,
as well as helps them recognize the complex relation-
ship between attitudes and behaviors.
