Purpose/Objectives: The selection of the best person for the job is often a
difficult task, especially when there are multiple appli-
cants for the position. This exercise provides partici-
pants with a simple system to expedite the selection
process. The system requires looking at the objective
(“can do”) and the subjective (“will do”) characteristics
of each applicant. Then, using a simple formula, par-
ticipants quantify those characteristics and express
them in a single percentage. The percentages for each
applicant can then be compared and used to pick the
“best” candidate.
