Purpose/Objectives: When clarifying expectations with their people, manag-
ers need to feel comfortable explaining the perform-
ance criteria used on performance evaluation forms.
In this activity, participants work with an actual per-
formance evaluation form (either the form used in your
organization or the sample form provided) and clarify
the meanings of the performance ratings. Participants
also practice explaining those terms to each other as
preparation for explaining them to the employees they
