208 – Planning and the Manager’s Role
Purpose/Objectives: Planning is so closely interwoven into a manager’s job
that some managers do not recognize planning as a
separate skill. They may not realize how important
planning is to their effectiveness.
This exercise stimulates participants to consider ways
managers use planning and highlights the relationship
between planning and other management functions.
Participants list work-related plans in which they are
directly involved. Then they determine how each of
those plans relates to the other management functions—
controlling, organizing, and directing.
