I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

• Initiating a conversation or exchange and you want to express an idea, make an
assignment, give performance feedback, or offer input
• Replying to another person and you have already listened and checked back to clarify
the message
WHAT TO DO
Step 1—Assess Yourself
• Quickly determine your mood, energy level, and attitudes/stereotypes toward your
listener and your message.
• Consider the appropriateness of your timing.
Step 2—Make a “Door Opener” Comment
• Indicate briefly what you plan to say/ask (not needed when someone else initiates).
