224 – Building a Playground
Purpose/Objectives: To execute any plan successfully, managers must
develop specific action steps to follow. Developing
action steps is a two-part skill: (1) knowing what steps
to list and (2) putting the steps into proper sequence.
This exercise gives participants an opportunity to
practice both of these skills in an enjoyable, highly
involving activity. Participants work in small groups to
design a children’s playground; then they list and
sequence the action steps for building it. Finally, each
group uses simple materials and follows their action
steps as a guide to construct a model of the playground.
