It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Predictive value is a concept applied to diagnostic tests in medicine. The predictive value of a test is its accuracy. In other words, when the test is positive, what percent of patients actually have the disease? When the test is negative, what percent are truly disease-free?
