So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Introduction
Managers significantly influence the success of training. A study done at Pfizer illustrated the profound impact managers have on whether training produces results (Kontra, Trainor, & Wick, 2007). The study assessed the effectiveness of an important leadership development program by conducting a second 360-degree assessment of participants a few months after training. The results were revealing. The training produced more effective leaders—as judged by their direct reports, peers, and managers—provided that the participant's manager was engaged in coaching and support. ...
