AKE CARE OF YOURSELF rather than work to exhaustion. All
the predictable consequences of burnout can result from poorly
deploying your passionate commitments: bad judgments, losing con-
nections with family, and your health. Take care of yourself not as an
indulgence, but to help ensure that the purposes you join have the best
chance of being achieved, and that you are still around to enjoy the
fruits of your labors. Below, we offer several practices for thriving
while leading adaptive change.
Grow Your Personal Support Network
You do not have to go it alone, and you should not. Without moral sup-
port and counsel from others, you become vulnerable to your own
weaknesses and to opponents who are challenged by your perspective.
