By default, the gizmo controls operate in global space. Try rotating the object. No matter how you turn it, the gizmo's movement arrows still point along the axes. Now try this: put the Spatial node back to its original position and orientation (or delete it and add a new one). Rotate the object around one axis, then click the Local Space Mode (T) button:

Observe what happened to the gizmo arrows. They now point along the object's local x/y/z axes and not the world's. When you click and drag them, they will move the object relative to its axes. Switching back and forth between these two modes can make it much easier ...
